NEWFANE -- More than 500 marijuana plants
were seized on Saturday during a police search of a residence in
Newfane, said Windham County sheriff's deputies.
The house on South Wardsboro Road belongs to Michael Bean, but
no arrest has been made in the case, deputies said. Authorities
have not yet determined which people in the home were
responsible for the contraband found in the residence.
Among the items seized were 514
marijuana plants or cuttings, weighing more than 30 pounds,
along with paraphernalia used in the cultivation and processing
of the drug.
Twenty-four firearms also were located in the home, police said.
The bulk of material was found in a room that appeared to have
been built for the purpose of cultivating the marijuana for sale
and distribution, police said.
